Founder Ashley Jordan's Story

Ashley Jordan, a survivor of domestic violence, founded A Girl Like Me Inc. (AGLMI) in 2013 and in 2024 she changed her name to Advocates for Growth, Leadership, and Meaningful Independence with a deep commitment to providing comprehensive support and life-changing resources for those affected by domestic violence. Born from her own experiences, Ashley's vision is to create a sanctuary of healing, empowerment, and hope for survivors.

AGLMI is not just an organization; it is a movement dedicated to promoting mental wellness and empowering survivors to reclaim their lives. Since its inception, AGLMI has become a powerful force in advocating for domestic violence awareness and creating lasting change within communities. Through vital services like shelter packs, survivor mentorship programs, and teen dating workshops, the organization tackles the urgent needs of survivors while also addressing broader issues such as homelessness and gun violence.

In addition to its outreach and activism, AGLMI distributes wellness gift bags aimed at educating survivors about healthy living and inspiring them to make informed choices for their health and well-being.

At the heart of the organization lies the unwavering belief that every victim of domestic violence can overcome even the most difficult obstacles with the right support. AGLMI is dedicated to improving the quality of life for survivors, guiding them on a path to not only survive but thrive, with the promise of a healthier and happier future.
